Has anyone heard of any rates being changed yet? If so, does it look like most are being approved or turned down? What arguments have been successful or unsuccessful?

I have heard the state intends to have all rate change reviews complete by Dec. 31st and will let people know one way or the other.

I have several clients whose conversion plans are in appeal and I have not heard anything reagrding the appeals yet. HOwever, two of my clients whose annual plans begin on 1/1/06 were approved with the appealed for rate change without incident. I would hope that the waiver specialist are expediting the appealed plans, I know many of my clients are tired of waiting for answers. Not sure if this answers your question or not....I hope it helps.

Sheila,

Thanks for your answer. The information about your clients with start dates of 1-1-06 is encouraging.

For those whose care plans aren't up soon, it is, as you said, very frustrating not having any answers. Our family is in limbo while waiting on on the rate review. New staff is not being hired with the review outcomes uncertain, and we have already seen a reduction in the number of times goals in our child's ISP were addressed in November along with the reduction in hours.

The rate request forms submitted by providers seem to be stuck, however I too have heard that they are all to have responses by December 31.

I also know of at least one case where the person had an increase to their rate based on the ISP. Be sure that Case Managers and the person and their teams are doing a comprehensive job of developing the ISP, based on needs. Needs include opportunities for growing and learning too.
